Artist's Description
My early success in oil painting was in still life paintings of flowers. This is one of my favorites. The pitcher sits on three legs. The flowers have large heads in red, dark red and purple. They represent three stages of life and a joyous mood. The original is painted on masonite, a smooth surface but with texture in the brush strokes visible. Using metallic gold paint mixed with darker colors, the background makes a rich, modern look to a traditional subject.
Printed small as a greeting card or large as a print, this subject is suitable for any decor. The original is available for sale from the artist.
