The artist concentrates on paintings of women in their environments. The brushwork is impressionistic with strong light on the figure. Color is a major element of this painting setting a mood. While the robe is purple, it is composed of many colors A strong contrast in tone dramatizes the mood of the woman seated on a high stool in her kitchen.
