Artist's Description

Narcissus is the first flower of my poetry book which is a biography of my llfe. The entire book if free online (http//:narcissushibiscusandmandrake. This photograph of a dried narcissus stalk shows that they come in many varieties. Forcing the bulks to bloom started as a childhood experiment that I have enjoyed for years. I put the ends of the bulbs in a glass bowl, shells and water. This way I can enjoy the daily changes.

The bloom of the variety is a cluster of seven individual flowerets coming from on stem. Dried and arranged on a black background, this image has the qualities of oriental flower arrangements. It can be interpreted in many way. I like to see the crossing of the two stems as the possibilities we have to overcome obstacles and to blossom throughout our lives.

A print of this photograph in any size will enhance any decor. I hope that it is an inspiration for anyone who receives it as a greeting card or print. The original is not available.
